What's Been Keeping Me Busy?

I've been a very busy bee lately. I just finished up two good sized orders for felt food. The picture shows about half of what I've been working on. A previous post showed the mess that happened during the process. Most of that mess is now cleaned up. And, my table is sitting awaiting the next project. Hmmmm... perhaps it's time to start all those Christmas gifts.

these are amazing. I'm making some for my little girl for Christmas and am struggling a bit. They are time consuming at this point. I'm not much of a machine sewer. I am a functional hand sewer but i have a great imagination and am determined to make these for DD. I am the Director of an afterschool program and am teaching the kids to do it to. So far they have made sugar cookies with icing. I'm struggling with the egg (in shell) right now. Do you have any suggestions?

m_ill_e: Thanks!! I'm sure your daughter will love the things that you are working on for her. I tried making a egg in the shell as well. I ended up using two oval shapes that I sewed up and stuffed full. I would suggest making the oval more "egg" shaped with a pointier top and a fuller bottom. I hope that helps!

NicolleDyson: Hi there!! I'm glad your enjoying my blog. I stuff my bread with layers of quilt batting. Usually three layers, but it depends on the thickness of your padding. You could just use poly fill but it will be harder to smooth out and make it nice and flat. I'm planing on posting a pictorial (tutorial) on how to make bread soon. But, in a nutshell this is how I do it. First I cut out two bread shaped pieces using either cream or cream/brown mottled. Then I cut a 1 1/4" long strip in the crust color. I sew one side of the bread to the crust... then the other side on the other side of the crust. I do make marks on the top and bottom centers of the bread so that I can line up the top and bottom pieces. I leave one long side open about 3" so I can put in the stuffing, then I hand sew it closed. I hope this helps some.
